Arsenal have numerous players out on loan. They fail into three categories, players on the first team fringes that Arsene believes will further their education with a long spell playing first team football.
Into this category are Armand Traorewho has been converted from a left-back into a left-winger. He is currently on loan at Portsmouth and is doing very well. Also newly departed striker Jay Simpson who has been inspirational in his shot time at West Bromwich Albion.
The second category are youngsters who Arsene has not his mind up yet, they may return to Arsenal next season or the likelihood is they will be sold or sent out on another loan spell. Nacer Barazite, has been receiving great reviews whilst with Arsenal, he is on a year long loan spell with Derby County. Though considered a great prospect, Arsene will look at the players he has at the club and probably decide that Nacer will not be able to break into the team and sell him in the summer. Kerrea Gilberthas been on loan for the third season. His position is a mystery, either Wenger thinks he is a great right-bakc and in ensuring that when he comes back to Arsenal he is ready for first team action or Wenger is allowing him to run down his contract, nobody is sure are he has not featured in any pre-season games either. The third player in this category is Pedro, our Brazilian in Spain who is waiting to get a Spanish passport before joining Arsenal.
The final category are the lads that are being released in the summer and are being given an opportunity to show teams what they are capable off doing. These players are Vincent van der Berg, Abu Ogogo, Renee Steer and Paul Rodgers.
Young Arsenal striker Nacer Barazite has agreed to join Derby County on a one month loan deal. If things go well the spell could be extended to a season long spell. Barazite did not travel to Austria with the first team squad, which was an indication that Arsene believed that his immediate future lay away from Arsenal. This has happened with Nordveit, while Gibbs and Merida are awaiting for loan spells to be agreed,
The season would have been wasted for the young Dutch striker at Arsenal’s reserves, whilst he is not quite ready yet for the first team. Barazite, 18, will hope to become a success at Derby County following in the foot steps of former Arsenal player Arturo Lupoli who had a very successful spell at Derby County before leaving for Fiorentina. Barazite is one of the hottest properties at Arsenal, but only now will the Arsenal coaching staff be able to assess him as to what level he has reached and what he can do on a regular basis.
Paul Jewel is extremely happy to have reached agreement with Arsenal over Barazite and admitted talking to Arsene Wenger about several players during the summer. Amongst those they talked about would have been Traore, Lansbury and Randall. We will have to wait ands see if Lansbury joins Barazite at Derby. Another player at the crossroad is Jay Simpson who had a great season at Millwall last season, but will struggle to breathrough to the first team this season. Another year on loan beckons for the young striker.
