Tomorrow sees Arsenal take on Dynamo Kiev in the first game of the group stages of the Champions League in Kiev. Dynamo are not the power that they used to be, but the game will not easy.
Away from home, expect Arsenal to play a more defensive shape with van Persie dropping further into midfield giving us a 4-5-1 formation. The team is unlikely to be changed from Saturday’s fine win over Rovers. In fact, the only change in the squad is Kierran Gibbs out a Carlos Vela in. This means no Nasri or Silvestre, add to that our three long term injures in Diaby, Rosicky, and Eduardo.
Arsenal need to be tight for the first 15-20 minutes, ensure Dynamo do not score early and silence the crowd. Once we are past this stage we can start to assert our supremacy on the opponents. Our movement should start to tell.
Adebayor will play a very important role tonight. Playing as the lone striker, he will need to control the ball, hold it up, and wait for re-enforcements. Ade cannot afford to be static; he needs to pull the defenders all over the pitch, leaving holes for oncoming players to run into.
Denilson will face a massive challenge tonight, he is growing every game in the centre of the park, tonight he must become a man and boss the midfield, allowing Cesc to roam forward and terrorise the Kiev defenders.
The most important thing about the game is not to lose. We need to leave Ukraine with at least a point, this group will be won a few points, lose and you hand the advantage to your opponents.
