Mata £18M Bid?

The transfer window is nearly open for Arsenal, this week and next week, once players report back for pre-season is when the movement will start.

A new name of the block, Spain under-21 international Juan Mata is the player for Wenger or so go the reports doing the rounds on Sunday and Monday.  The 23 year-old player is reported to be subject or soon to be subject to a formal bid from Arsenal in the region of £18M.  Liverpool are also rumoured to be after the Valencia winger, but people forget that the Spanish contingent at Anfield has been dismantled since the departure of Benitez.

The question is will Wenger go for Mata and Gervinho and Alvarez?  I doubt all three, maybe two out of the three and even though we appear to have agreed terms with Gervinho and Alvarez, we do not appear to have lodged formal bids.

If Wenger signs Mata, we must celebrate too much.  Our history of Spanish signings is nothing to write home about.  Reyes, Fabregas and Merida all couldn’t wait to run back to Spain, will Mata be different if in two or three years Real Madrid come knocking at the door?  Arsenal need to insert a buy-out clause of £45M into any contract.

  1. Voice of Reason

Fabregas couldn’t wait to run back to Spain? Are you mental? Even if he goes this summer, Cesc has been a fantastic Arsenal player, a brilliant ambassador for the club. He has put an enormous amount of effort in, holding up a team that without him is frankly rather lacklustre.

Even if Cesc goes he’ll always be one of my favourite Arsenal players. He himself has never said that he hasn’t loved Arsenal or not tried to win the club trophies.

Juan mata is a good move for arsenal but will arsenal sign the young spainard? luck at the lick of Ghovino, Alvares we don’t understand if they are stil coming to arsenal in fact i dont belive in Asene Wenger one bit.

  3. arsenal are always linked with more than a hundred players but will they ever make that important move?thats a question that requires an immediate answer i guess!
