The FA Cup is a competition that Arsene realises that this season could be our best avenue to silverware. We are too far adrift in the league to pretend we have a chance, whilst the Champions League is so unpredictable that only Benitez can sacrifice every other competition for this tournament.
The gods have been kind to us; Plymouth, Cardiff, and Burnley all at home. In fact, before we play our 4th round game we will know our potential quarter final opponents, those opponents will be either Hull City or Sheffield United at the Emirates..
Before we contemplate a quarter final place we have Cardiff and Burnley to dispatch.
The Cardiff game could see the return of Eduardo, and how we have missed a sharpshooter like him. Last season he was lethal in front of goal and so cool, lets us hope he doesn’t take too long to get back into the groove. Missing from the game will be Eboue and Adebayor though on recent form neither will be a major loss, also not eligible will be Arshavin. We should too strong for Cardiff.
By the time, the Burnley game comes around Arshavin will be available and we could see the return from injury of Walcott, Fabregas and Adebayor. Arsene will not play a weakened team and hopefully we could be marching onwards to Wembley.
Arsenal need to get to the FA Cup final, it has been four years since we beat Manchester United on penalties. The fans are greedy, we were regular visitors to FA Cup Finals, and we want some of that again. A cup final will be a great boost for fans and players and it will take some of the pressure off Arsene who knows all too well that a club of Arsenal’s stature needs to be appearing in cup finals.
This could be our season for FA Cup glory.
