The Race for Europe
Arsenal have not been ripping uptrees with their recent performances, ,but that they have learnt is to win by solitary goals and keep clean sheets.
One-nil to the Arsenal used to resonate around Highbury, it was our anthem of no surrender, but in the Wenger era its more likely to be 3-2 or 2-2. In recent weeks the defence has tightened up and the attack, when Nasri is unleashed is starting to create chances.
More signisficantly is that whislt we are supposed to be in a dog fight with Aston Villa for the fourth Champions League spot, in reality there are four maybe five teams fighting it out for two or three Champions League spots.
Manchester United, unless something disastrous happens are destined to be crowned champions, as for the others perm any three from five from Liverpool, Chelsea, Aston Villa, Arsenal and Everton.
At the moment Chelseas are wobbling badly, Scolari will do well to see the season out, whilst Everton are roaring away without any strikers. Monday sees them play Liverpoo.l Failure for Liverpool to win and they will be in a fight for a Champions League spot, how ironic after Benitez’ outburst.
We are slowly picking up points, making sure we claim maximum points, just waiting for the cavalry to come over the hill in the form of Arshavin, Walcott, Eduardo, Fabregas and Rosicky. If we keep on picking up points nad narrowing the gap against the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea, come the end of the season one of those teams could find themselves in the Europa Cup.
