Window is Open – Will We Buy?
Day two of the transfer window and the rumours are running into overtime.
Mikael Arteta and Gokhan Inler are top of our list, the combined cost will be £20M. Both players will be invaluable additions to our squad.
The shock transfer could be Andrei Arshavin, this move will show that Arsenal mean business. Wenger has been very coy on the possible transfer and Arshavin’s agent has been making the right noises.
Shay Given is now in play with the player’s lawyer admitting that Given wants away from Newcastle and that Arsenal are one of the clubs that have shown an interest in the player. Given is a class goalkeeper and he would be a vast improvement on Almunia who has never convinced Arsenal fans that he is worthy of the number one shirt.
All signs are that we will be active in the market, that is until Hill-Wood opened his mouth. Despite Arsenal having over £100m in the bank and having run a transfer surplus for the last two season, our beloved Chairman is talking about not much money available. This is despite the board promising Wenger all the financial support he needs. If the board fails to provide Wenger with the funds he requires to rebuild the team, then the Board needs to resign en masse and David Dein should come back and sort things out.
