Transfer Deadline Approaches

With less than six hours to go to transfer deadline all is quiet at the Emirates and London Colney.  Is this a sign of inactivity or are their deals being made behind close doors.  Evidence of the last two seasons will suggest that players are being lined up, medicals undetaken and contracts signed.  In the last two seasons our transfers were not announced until after midnight, in fact the Diarra deal caught people by surprise as it took Sky Sports a long time to reveal that we had signed the player.

Signings on the final day require a lot of co-ordination, two clubs, player, agents, medical staff.  If the player is abroad he will have to undertake a medical locally, sometimes a player will be signed on loan as the loan paperwork is less onerous than a permanent deal.

The silence from the Emriates in this instance means that a deal or two are being finalised, but we will have to wait till midnight to see who has arrived, whilst Lansbury and Merida may finalise loan deals today.
