Gibbs to be a Royal?
Reading are interested in taking Kieran Gibbs on a season long loan. Such a move would be very beneficial for Gibbs who will get valuable first team experience at Reading playing at either left-back or on the left side of midfield.
“It is important we get the right person in. Gibbs is the sort of player Arsenal will loan out,” Howe, Reading’s Chief Executive said in the Daily Mirror.
“Signing a Premier League player for the season could be attractive to a club like ours.”
Before Wenger sanctions any move he will need to be assured that Gibbs will get more playing time than he did last season at Norwich where he went on loan. It is pointless sending out these youngsters on loan if they spend their time sitting on the bench, they could do that at Arsenal.
The other point that the Arsenal boss will need to know is what is happening with Armand Traore. He faield to impress in a couple of games last season at left-back, whilst he has been used increasingly as a left-winger by Wenger. If Wenger does not fancy Traore as a left back, and Gibbs has been elevated to this position, Wenger will have to resort to Traore if Gibbs goes out on loan.
I nthe long-run, a season at Reading will benefit Gibbs and Arsenal. It will give Wenger a xchance to assess Kierran over the course of a season.
