Wenger Says a Player to Join Soon
What was obvious to all the fans, has now become a reality with Wenger, we need at least another player in midfield. Wenger has confirmed that he will sign someone before the return leg with FC Twente, but not before the start of the season.
Whilst Ramsey has done well so far, he is still only 17, and apart from Carling Cup matches, I do not think even he expects to play in more than a dozen first team games this season.
The injury to Fabregas and Diaby has shown the frailty of the squad. Allowing Gilberto to leave with so few alternatives was a weird decision. The strangest decision was selling Diarra in January. With Wenger allowing Gilberto to leave, he was relying on Flamini staying, but this was always a doubt, as he never showed any willingness to sign a new contract. Arsene should have held onto Diarra or let him go out on loan. That is in the past and now attention will be on the incoming player.
Many names have been thrown into the hat – Alonso, Barry, Johnson, and Inler. By tonight the first three could all be Champions League cup-tied, which will not help the situation, whilst Inler is not the “experienced” player Wenger has been mentioning.
Some roads are leading to Manchester City, as it is reported that Johnson’s contracttalks have collapsed and there is a great deal of uncertainty at Eastlands with some players reported to being offered behind Hughes’ back.
