There are stories circulating that Tomas Rosicky will miss the whole of this season with a hamstring injury that will never go away.
The Czech international was injured in January 2008 against Newcastle. It was to begin with an innocuous injury, but as time went on the club was silent on his return.. Weeks turned to months and then the season was over with no appearance from Rosicky other than the end of season lap of “appreciation”.
Pre-season and still no Rosicky, the club had him returning in September, then December, no wild rumours have him out for the season. If this is the case it is probably an end to his career. This is no ordinary injury, and I doubt he will return the same player.
Where does this leave Arsenal? Nasri and Walcott are not enough. Wenger will play Diaby out wide, which negates the positive attributes , the other option is Eboue out wide, this is Arsenal fans’ worst case scenario. Hindsight is a great thing, but Wenger knew we did not have the cover on the wings and yet only replaced Hleb with Nasri which was never enough.
I hope the reports of Rosicky’s injury are premature and wide of the mark, but if they are true then I think we will not see the Czech international again gracing the Emirates.
